I can't stop thinking about how incredibly brave Suzanne, Gena, and Bryan must have been in those terrifying moments. It's terrifying to imagine the fear they must have faced. Suzanne was just 18, with so much promise ahead of her, undoubtedly looking forward to that fun day at Lake Hawkins with friends. It’s such a cruel twist of fate that someone like McFadden was able to cross their path. What really baffles me is how McFadden, a convicted rapist, was free and able to strike again. It raises so many questions about the parole system and how someone with his track record could be out in the world, posing a threat to more innocent lives. It seems so unjust that a system intended to protect society could fail these young lives so devastatingly. I'm hoping that discussions about this case have led to some changes that prevent other families from suffering similar tragedies. My thoughts are with Suzanne's family as they continue to remember her and fight for changes that could save others.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the escape incident during which McFadden took a guard hostage. It blows my mind how he managed to slip through the cracks like that, especially with his past. To me, it shines a glaring light on the need for prison security reforms. The officers involved in recapturing him surely felt the weight of urgency knowing what he was capable of. Suzanne’s family and the families of Bryan and Gena must’ve been on edge during those stressful days, knowing the monster who senselessly stole their loved ones was on the loose. It makes me appreciate the dedication of law enforcement when faced with such daunting tasks. It’s chilling to think about how much harm someone like McFadden could cause if not apprehended quickly. Incredible courage was shown in bringing him back to justice, but it leaves us questioning how the system allowed it to happen in the first place. My sympathies continue to go out to all the families affected by this tragic series of events.
