Wow, what a complex and finally resolved case after all these years! I can't imagine the agony Anna Marie Hlavka's family went through, waiting decades for answers about her tragic death. One aspect that keeps coming back to me is the role of forensic genealogy in cracking this case. It's fascinating and a little eerie to think about how the DNA of distant relatives can lead to solving such a heinous crime. The part that sticks with me is how this method was used after so many failed attempts to match the DNA. It almost seems like a perfect storm of timing and technological advancement. I'm relieved for Anna’s family that they finally have clarity and can hopefully find some peace. It's bittersweet knowing her killer was never brought to trial for this specific crime, even though justice eventually caught up with him in another way. Has anyone else been following how this technique is being used in other cold cases? It's pretty incredible how it gives a voice to victims who have been silenced for far too long. Sending thoughts to the Hlavka family and hoping many more families can find the answers that they're desperately seeking.

Has anyone else been following the Anna Marie Hlavka case closely? I've been thinking about the emotional toll it must have taken on her sister, finding her like that and then having to live with unanswered questions for so long. It's hard to imagine the strength it must have required to navigate through life, especially those first few years after the murder. I wonder if Hlavka’s family ever felt any sense of peace knowing that her killer had been stopped from hurting others, even before he was identified. McFadden’s crimes were horrific, and while knowing who did it doesn’t erase the pain, maybe it helps knowing he was no longer free. I’m glad they eventually got some answers, but I wish it hadn’t taken so long for justice to prevail. My heart truly goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy.
