I've been thinking about how isolated Christina must have felt in those final months. The fact that she stayed in contact with her family every day speaks volumes about her situation. It’s like she was trying to maintain a lifeline to her loved ones while trapped in that horrible environment. How devastating it must be for her parents now to know that they were so close, yet couldn't reach her in time. It’s horrifying to think that she felt her only option was to send her daughter away for safety, but she wasn’t able to do the same for herself. It’s crucial for us to learn from Christina’s story and improve support networks for those in similar situations. It seems like we sometimes miss how vital regular communication can be as a sign that someone is crying for help, even if subtly. Love to her family and little Erica, who now grows up only knowing her mother through stories.
