Joan was my grandmother. I was there the day my mom found her body (I wasn’t in the house with my mom). It affected our family in profound ways and on the anniversary of her murder I always think of her. Thank you for your kind words and compassion. They brought me comfort today.
I can only imagine how profoundly traumatic that day was for your family, and how those memories must resurface every year on the anniversary. Joan was clearly deeply loved, and I’m truly honored that my words could bring even a small measure of comfort today.
What happened to your grandmother was heartbreaking and unjust, but it’s meaningful to know that she is still remembered with love by her family. I’m holding space for you and your loved ones today, and I hope her memory brings you moments of peace alongside the sorrow.
