Hey everyone,
I've been deep-diving into the Car Barn murders lately, and I just can't get over how this gang operated with such impunity during their crime spree. What really struck me was the tragic loss of Frank Stewart, just a young guy trying to do his job that night. I can't even begin to imagine the fear and chaos in that office when the robbers burst in.
It's chilling to think about how these criminals used automatic revolvers—a new technology at that point—to intimidate and overpower their victims. And the fact that people like Frank and John Johnson didn't stand a chance against such sheer ruthlessness is truly devastating. The trauma for the survivors like William Edmon must have been unimaginable.
Does anyone else know about how these new weapons changed policing and crime patterns in Chicago back then? It seems like it wasn’t just a tragic loss for their families but also a pivotal moment for law enforcement tactics. Would love to hear your thoughts or any additional info you might have come across.
Stay safe, everyone!
