Has anyone else been following the recent developments in Kathy Ann Smith's case? It's such a relief that her identity was finally uncovered after so many years, but I can't stop wondering about Henry Lee Lucas. His confession and the patterns of his crimes make him seem like the logical suspect. Yet, it's frustrating that there's still no concrete evidence linking him to Kathy's murder definitively.
I'm curious about the car accident trauma noted in her autopsy. Was her death more of an opportunistic act by Lucas or simply a tragic coincidence? It would be great to hear if anyone has seen any similar cases where highway accidents were used as a modus operandi by serial offenders. I'm hopeful that with forensic advancements, more clarity can be brought to Kathy's case and perhaps others still shrouded in mystery.
My heart goes out to her family who must have been living in uncertainty for such a long time. Getting that call finally giving her a name must have been overwhelming for them.
