I’ve been following the Deborah Harriett Jackson case, and I’m really struck by how the introduction of DNA technology played such a crucial role in bringing some form of justice to her and her family. It’s awful to think about how her case remained unsolved for over two decades. I can only imagine the frustration and pain her loved ones endured during that time, not knowing what happened or if they’d ever find answers.
The linkage to Michael Hughes and his already established history of violent crimes just sends shivers down my spine. It's terrifying to think that someone could commit such heinous acts more than once. But it also raises such an important point about how far we've come with forensics. Without the advances in DNA testing, Deborah and those other victims might still be waiting for justice. I hope these breakthroughs bring some peace to the families involved and serve as a reminder of the importance of continually improving the ways we solve these tragic crimes.
