I can't stop thinking about Robert M. Fisher's tragic death—he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The fact that he was the only fatality among three men targeted on that horrible day on Bancroft Avenue is haunting. My heart goes out to his family and friends who must still be grappling with this senseless loss more than two decades later. East Oakland saw some truly terrifying times, and it makes me wonder about the impact on the community and what measures have been taken since to prevent such violence. I hope the neighborhood has found some peace and healing, and that Robert's loved ones know that people still think about him and want justice to prevail. Anyone local to East Oakland in '99 who remembers more about this time or the community's response?
