I've been thinking about Theresa Walsh and the other women involved in the Santa Rosa hitchhiker murders, and something that stands out is how these cases highlight the dangers faced by young women at the time. In the early 1970s, hitchhiking was a common mode of transportation, especially for those who lacked other options. It’s tragic that what seemed like a simple means to get around could lead to such a devastating outcome. Every time I read about Theresa and the others, I can't help but imagine what their last moments might have been like, possibly trusting a stranger who seemed friendly or harmless. The idea that the killer might have interviewed them first is chilling, almost as if gaining their trust before committing these horrific acts. It’s terrifying to think how someone could be so calculating and cruel. What's also frustrating is the fact that there have been no definitive answers all these years, despite countless efforts by the authorities. My heart goes out to Theresa’s family, living with the uncertainty and pain of not knowing who took their loved one from them. I really hope with today’s advanced forensic technologies, someday soon there will be breakthroughs that finally provide some semblance of justice for her and all the victims.

Does anyone else find it chilling that the killer might have interviewed Theresa Walsh and the other victims before attacking? I can’t stop thinking about how vulnerable those moments must have been, with them being none the wiser about what was about to happen. This aspect of the case makes you wonder if a stranger was posing as someone trustworthy or if he was methodically choosing who he thought was most vulnerable. It's haunting to think about how he could have led them into a false sense of security—especially in a time when hitchhiking was a more common and accepted practice. The idea that someone could have been psychologically manipulating these young women is so upsetting, and it really highlights how terrifying this case is. My heart goes out to Theresa’s family and the families of all the victims. It’s agonizing to think how close they all were to potentially escaping an unimaginable fate if they had only known. The persistence of law enforcement and advances with forensic technology give us some hope, but the lack of resolution is so hard to comprehend.
