I've been thinking about the lack of attention Roxanne Bates’ case initially got, and it's really troubling. Here's this vibrant woman whose life was brutally cut short, and yet the coverage was so minimal back in the day. It's sad to see how often sex workers, especially women of color, are treated like invisible victims. The case only got more acknowledgment when Ivan Hill was finally caught and it became part of a larger narrative. The dedication of those who kept working on these cold cases, even when they seemed unsolvable, deserves recognition. It’s a poignant reminder that every victim deserves justice, no matter their life circumstances. Let’s keep Roxanne’s memory alive and also support efforts that advocate for protection and justice for marginalized communities. ?️
