Did anyone else find it chilling how George Jefferson Hassell tried to cover up his horrific crime by claiming his family simply moved to Oklahoma? It's hard to comprehend how he thought he could pull off such a lie after committing something so unimaginable. My heart goes out to the surviving family and to the community of Farwell, who had to endure not only the loss of these innocent lives but also the deceit that followed. It must have been devastating for everyone when the wagon sunk into the ground, uncovering the truth beneath. It makes me wonder how the community processed this tragedy and found a way to heal.
