It's so chilling to think about how Irene Koutros's murder could have been prevented if the system had intervened earlier. I can't stop wondering about the underground garage in Grant Park where her life was taken so abruptly. It's infuriating to think that somewhere that should have been just an ordinary place turned into a site of tragedy. Does anyone here have more information on what safety measures, if any, were put into place in Grant Park following these horrific events? I hope the city made changes to prevent something like this from happening again. My heart goes out to Irene’s loved ones; no one deserves the pain of losing someone in such a violent manner. Every time I read about cases like these, it reminds me how crucial it is to advocate for stronger measures to keep our communities safe.

Reading about Irene Koutros' murder really made me reflect on the importance of improving our legal and psychiatric systems. It’s so devastating to think about how many lives could have been saved if Lester Harrison had been properly detained or treated earlier on. Irene was just 41 and had so much life ahead of her. The fact that she tragically lost her life in that underground garage in Grant Park because of a system that failed to protect her is distressing. I can't imagine the pain her family and friends must have gone through, not knowing if justice would ever be served. Although Harrison was eventually apprehended, the fact that this took multiple lives to happen shows just how flawed the system was at the time. Irene, along with the other victims, deserved so much better. It’s crucial that we continue to advocate for changes in the system to prevent these kinds of tragedies. No one should have to live in fear because someone who clearly poses a threat to society isn't adequately monitored or treated. My thoughts go out to all who knew and loved Irene.
