It's so difficult to comprehend what Margaret's family must have endured during such a devastating time. I can't imagine the pain of losing a child in such a horrific manner. One aspect of this case that keeps me up at night is how it illustrates the challenges of international legal proceedings. A crime committed in Germany by a U.S. citizen like John Arthur Getreu adds layers of complexity to the pursuit of justice. I'm impressed by the fact that regardless of these challenges, the German authorities efficiently prosecuted and secured a conviction. It's critical to remember that justice in any form doesn't bring back those we've lost, like Margaret, but it can hopefully provide some solace to her family knowing the perpetrator was held accountable. My heart really does go out to Margaret’s loved ones as they continue to cope with this ongoing tragedy.
