Hey everyone, I was reading about Rick Johnston's tragic story and something that really struck me was the fact that his last moments were spent doing something so normal and relatable—going to a concert. As someone who has been to the Aragon Ballroom numerous times, it's chilling to think about how such an everyday activity could lead to such unimaginable horror. What stands out to me is how easy it is to take our safety for granted. Back then, people didn't have the same awareness or resources we do now about the potential dangers lurking around. It's sobering to realize that Rick probably thought he was just going out to have a fun night. Thinking about his mom dropping him off just breaks my heart. The anguish his family must have gone through is beyond words. While we can't bring Rick back, remembering our shared humanity and the importance of vigilance may help us honor his memory by keeping our communities safer today. Sending love to his family and those who knew him. Would love to hear your thoughts on how public awareness has changed since then. How do you think things could have been different if it happened today?
