I've been thinking a lot about the investigation process in the case of August Watkins and the other victims of Ronald Dominique. It seems like the lack of forensic evidence and the vulnerability of the victims created significant challenges for law enforcement. It must have been so frustrating for the families to wait so long for answers while fearing that justice might never come. I can’t even begin to imagine the anxiety and pain they must have experienced during those years. It's truly disheartening that these barriers existed, but it does raise important questions about how investigations into similar cases might be improved. How can we ensure that system failures like this don’t happen again and that every victim, no matter their background, is accounted for and receives the attention they deserve?

I’ve been thinking a lot about the systemic issues highlighted by the August Watkins case. It’s unbearably sad to realize that his and other victims’ lives were overlooked for so long. These men were often at the fringes of society, possibly feeling alone or unheard, which makes the tragedy even more profound. As a community, we must reflect on how this was allowed to happen and what we can do differently to protect others who might find themselves in similar vulnerable positions today. Everyone deserves to live without fear, irrespective of their circumstances. My heart goes out to Augut's family and all those intertwined with the pain this grim story has left behind.
