I’ve been digging into Kiku Oyama's tragic story and can’t shake off how much strength it must have taken for her to intervene and secure the release of her friends during the police raids. It's distressing to think about the pressure she was under, especially with the friction it caused with the French saloon keeper. It's as if she was caught in an incredibly precarious position, trying to navigate a world that seemed set against her.
Her courage in trying to protect her associates genuinely highlights her character, and it's devastating that this same bravery might have contributed to her tragic end. I wonder if anyone else in the network she was part of had information that could have been useful but were too scared to come forward. It’s frustrating that these cases show a pattern of violence where vulnerability was so cruelly exploited.
My heart goes out to her family and anyone who knew her, as they must have carried the weight of so many unanswered questions and unfulfilled justice for all these years.
