I've been thinking a lot about Paul Schrader's tragic death and how his life was abruptly cut short at that motel in Tucson. It’s just so hard to imagine what he went through in his final moments. Being in his 70s, he should've been enjoying his retirement and the peace that comes with it, not facing such violence. I wonder if he had family or close friends who have had to carry this grief since 1973. It just feels so unjust that Creech was acquitted, even though authorities were convinced of his guilt.
Does anyone know if the motive for taking Paul’s credit cards and vehicle was just desperation on Creech's part, or was it part of a bigger plan? It seems like there were so many missed opportunities for justice in the years that followed. My heart goes out to anyone who knew Paul, even decades later. It’s important we keep their stories alive and continue to remember them.

Creech’s motive in almost every murder he committed was money

Just when you think you've read about every detail of this case, something else makes you stop and think. I was recently considering the courage and strength it must have taken for Paul Schrader's family and friends to endure that trial, only for the jury to acquit Thomas Creech. It's one thing to lose a loved one in such a violent way, but it's another to watch the person you believe responsible walk free after the trial. I can't even imagine the frustration and disbelief they felt. While Creech was eventually caught for other crimes, it must have been so tough for Paul’s loved ones to feel like justice wasn’t served in his case. My thoughts go out to them, even after all these years.
Hey everyone,
I've been following the Paul Schrader case and something I've been thinking about is the emotional toll this must have taken on his family. Imagine losing a loved one in such a violent and senseless manner and then having to go through the agony of a trial where the accused walks free. It's unimaginable.
Even though the jury acquitted Thomas Creech back then, I wonder how Schrader's family felt seeing him later convicted for multiple other murders. It must have been such a mix of emotions—frustration over the initial acquittal but perhaps some validation knowing justice was served in the end, even if it wasn’t directly for Paul.
My heart goes out to them because closure must have felt so elusive, especially with the knowledge that Creech continued his violent path through other crimes. I hope the Schrader family found some peace over the years despite the endless questions that likely linger.
Does anyone know if there have been any efforts to revisit the case with modern forensic techniques? I know it's been decades, but sometimes these cold cases come back into the spotlight with new technology.
