Is anyone else struck by how much strength Valerie must have had to endure what she did? Knowing what we know about Cottingham, it's chilling to think about the terror she must have felt in her last moments. It's so unjust that someone so young, with her whole life ahead of her, was taken like that. I hope her family has found some peace over the years, as impossible as that might seem. It’s a small comfort that Cottingham was caught and convicted, and he can't hurt anyone else. It doesn't bring Valerie back, but at least it helps to ensure justice was served for her and his other victims.
