I've been following the case of Sherry Perisho and something that really stands out to me is the profound ripple effect it has had on her friends and family, as well as the community in Big Pine Key. It's horrifying to think about how deeply this act of violence struck everyone who knew Sherry. From what I've read, she was living a peaceful life on her boat, carving out her own space in the world. Imagine the shock and horror of those close to her upon learning the grisly details of how she was discovered. The closure that came with connecting Carl "Charlie" Brandt to her murder must have been bittersweet for them—knowing who was responsible but also wrestling with the fact that he will never face justice in court. Such closures often feel incomplete having to accept that someone so violent could exist among them for so long without anyone knowing. It's a chilling reminder of how some monsters walk among us hidden behind a facade that's only uncovered after too much damage is already done. Sending strength and peace to those affected by this tragedy.
