Has anyone else come across the details about Althea's final moments and found themselves thinking about the courage she showed? To be going through what she did and manage to cry out for help despite her severe injuries is really poignant. It breaks my heart for her family and friends, who must have clung to that knowledge all these years. The strength she had in those last moments, still trying to fight, is something I can’t stop thinking about. It’s a small light in an otherwise dark story. I'm relieved they finally have some answers, but I wish it didn't take so long to get justice for Althea. How is everyone else processing this?

Does anyone else feel completely devastated knowing that Althea's killer worked as a security aide? The idea that Paul Apodaca was in a position of trust and supposed to be ensuring safety on campus just makes everything so much worse. It’s chilling to think of how he used that position to stalk and ultimately attack her. My heart really goes out to Althea’s family and friends. It must be so difficult to process that someone who should have been protecting her was actually harboring such malicious intentions. The community trusted him, and he betrayed that trust in the worst way possible. Sending love and strength to everyone affected by this tragedy.

I was reading through some of the old news articles and community forums about Althea Oakley, and it struck me how this case really affected so many lives over the years. I’m incredibly impressed by the resilience of Althea’s friends and family, who never stopped fighting for justice even when it looked like the case had gone cold. Their determination is truly inspiring. One thing I keep thinking about is how difficult it must have been for them during those 33 years, not knowing what happened or who was responsible. Every new piece of information must have felt like reopening a wound, yet they remained steadfast. The fact that Paul Apodaca's unexpected confession finally provided them with answers is something I can only imagine brought a complex mix of emotions. I hope that Althea's loved ones find some peace now, knowing the truth and seeing accountability. It's a testament to their strength and the perseverance of those who supported them throughout the years. We should all be reminded of the critical importance of keeping these unsolved cases in the public consciousness and supporting those who can't rest until justice is served.
