I came across some old newspaper clippings while researching Kimberly Carol Fritz's case and couldn't help but think about the timeline of these tragic events. It's haunting to realize how vulnerable these women were in the late 70s and how their cases could go cold for so long despite the violent nature of their deaths. I can't imagine the agony their families must have gone through, not knowing who took their loved ones from them.
What's truly astonishing is how the breakthrough in 2023 came about due to advancements in DNA technology and detective work. It makes me wonder about the technology advancements in forensic science since 1977 and how many other cold cases might have a chance at being solved. I’m thankful for the relentless dedication of the Ventura County authorities who never stopped seeking justice for Kimberly, Velvet, and Lorraine. Their work has finally brought a glimmer of closure to the families after so many years of uncertainty.
I know the road ahead in the court proceedings will be difficult, but I hope that Kimberly's family and those of the other victims will eventually find peace and justice. Does anyone else have thoughts about how this technology could help in other cold cases?
