I've been reading about Constable Daniel Jenkins and something that really struck me was the community's response, or lack thereof, during the investigation. Can you imagine being in a small town where everybody knows each other, and yet people hesitated to come forward? The reports say multiple witnesses were present, but despite this, there wasn't enough cooperation to hold a trial. This just adds a layer of frustration and sadness—not only for Jenkins' family but for the entire town that couldn't bring justice for one of their own. It's baffling and must have left a lot of residents feeling helpless and perhaps even fearful. I wonder if, at the time, there were societal pressures or fears of retribution that kept people silent. It's a somber reminder of how crucial community involvement is in solving crimes. Those who knew Constable Jenkins deserved closure and justice.
