I've been digging through some old files and stumbled upon the story of Almer Loin Terry and Daniel Kenyon, and it just left me thinking about the bravery of those early law enforcement officers. It's hard to imagine the kind of courage it took for Deputy Terry and his partner to confront the "Cotton Top Walker Gang" knowing their reputation. It's incredibly sad to hear that Terry was single, without children, and still actively sought to protect his community. What stuns me is how these gangs operated almost like small armies, yet our officers faced them with such courage, often with so little backup. It's a reminder of how risky the job has always been and the tough path many have walked. It's a testament to their dedication that despite the danger, they were out there confronting such a ruthless gang. Makes me appreciate even more the sacrifices made by those who don’t make it home. If anyone has more details about how the community handled this or any other unsung heroes in the region, I'd love to hear.
