Hi everyone, Just reflecting on the incredible courage shown by Kenneth Truitt that day. It's mind-blowing to think about how he, like many others, entered that church intending to spend a peaceful Sunday morning with his community. Instead, he made the ultimate sacrifice in a selfless attempt to protect his fellow churchgoers. Kenneth’s actions demonstrate such profound bravery, jumping in at the critical moment to try and save others without hesitation. I think it's equally important to acknowledge the emotional strength and support that the Truitt family and their community must have needed to carry on after such a sudden and devastating loss. One thing that really resonates with me is how Kenneth, who was simply living his life as an electrical contractor and community member, became a part of a collective history that touches many hearts to this day. It reminds us all of the potential heroism that resides within everyday people. To the Truitt family and all those affected, my thoughts are with you, and I hope people continue sharing Kenneth’s story as a legacy of selfless courage. Stay safe, everyone.

I recently came across the story of the Daingerfield shooting from 1980 and was truly moved by what I learned about Kenneth Truitt. It's just unfathomable to imagine what his family must have gone through, losing him in such an unexpected and violent way. Kenneth wasn't just an electrical contractor; he was a hero that day. To be able to rush toward danger in hopes of protecting others speaks volumes about his character. I was particularly struck by how the community of Daingerfield came together in the aftermath of the tragedy. I read that a monument was erected outside the church to honor the victims. It's heartening to see that Kenneth, along with Red McDaniel and the others who were lost, are remembered for their bravery. Does anyone know if there are regular memorial services held at the site, or if the church community continues to honor their memories in some way? It’s important that the heroism and courage shown by Kenneth and others that day are never forgotten. My thoughts are continually with everyone who knew and loved him.
