I recently came across a discussion about James "Red" McDaniel, and though I didn’t know him personally, I can’t help but feel for his family and friends even all these years later. It’s always the quiet heroes whose stories stick with us. I found it touching that the community placed a monument outside the church in his honor. It’s clear that his bravery didn’t go unnoticed and continues to inspire. I can't imagine the strength it took to confront such a terrifying situation, but his courage undoubtedly saved many lives that day. Just thinking about what the church community and McDaniel's loved ones endured is enough to make anyone stop and reflect. Anyone else got more details on how the community is remembering the victims or perhaps any yearly memorials that might be held?
