Hey everyone,
I've been thinking about the ripple effects cases like Oscar Domingo Perez's have on everyone involved, especially the officers who were close to him. We often focus on the immediate tragedy, but what about the lasting impact on his fellow officers who had to remain on duty, day in and day out, knowing what happened to their friend and colleague? I can't imagine the emotional weight they must carry. Officer Perez's legacy goes beyond just his family; it touches every officer he worked with, who now have to face similar dangers every day, reminded of the risks that come with the badge.
It's so important for us to give a thought for their mental well-being and support networks. Does anyone know if the department provided counseling or support for Officer Perez's partner who was there with him, and others who might be struggling with similar situations? Supporting each other is how we can honor his sacrifice and keep our community strong.

I still can't wrap my head around the incredible bravery Officer Perez showed during that horrific day. He was just doing his job, trying to keep the community safe, and it led to such devastating consequences. I’ve been thinking a lot about his partner who was there with him that day. We often talk about the loved ones left behind, and rightfully so, but his partner was right in the line of fire too. Imagine having to deal with the trauma of losing a fellow officer right beside you and then having to keep doing your job after something like that. That's a heavy burden to carry. Officer Perez's whole family, including his partner, carry this with them every day. I hope they’ve been able to find some strong support systems in the aftermath of such a tragedy. It's heartening to know the community hasn’t forgotten him and continues to honor his memory year after year.
