It’s been over two decades, and I still can’t wrap my head around how this tragedy unfolded. The loss of Sgt. Kevin Dale Cox is one that deeply affects not only the Lubbock PD but also the entire community. I recently read about the "Kevin Cox Memorial Obstacle Course", and it struck me how fitting it is—it seems like a perfect tribute to honor his dedication and innovative spirit. It's comforting to know that his legacy continues to play a role in preparing other officers for the challenges they might face, a notion that I’m sure brings some solace to his family. Still, the pain of losing someone in such a devastating manner must linger heavily. My heart goes out to his wife and kids who had to navigate through the aftermath of that dreadful day. Sending strength and love to the Cox family.
