I've been reading through the threads and couldn't shake the thought of Susan Soogrim's teenage child who managed to escape that dreadful day back in 2004. I can’t even begin to imagine the trauma and heartache they must have gone through, not only witnessing such a tragic event but losing their mother in such a violent way. It's truly devastating to think about the long-term impact on their life.
I wonder if there’s been any support or counseling provided to help them navigate through the aftermath? Also, it makes me think about the psychological toll on kids who witness gun violence and the importance of mental health resources in such cases. My thoughts are with Susan’s family and her child, hoping they’ve found some semblance of peace and healing over the years.
If anyone has updates on the investigation or knows about any community support efforts, I'd appreciate hearing about them. It's a reminder of the ongoing fight against gun violence and its ripple effects on families and communities.
It's been nearly two decades since Susan Soogrim's life was senselessly taken in Baytown, and it’s disturbing that we still don’t have answers. The fact that her teenage child had to escape for their own safety while losing their mother is unimaginable. As someone who follows true crime cases, I can’t help but think about the long-lasting impact this must have left on them—growing up without closure and living with such trauma. I hope investigators are still actively working on this case. Susan deserves justice, and her child deserves peace. If there’s anyone out there who knows something—no matter how small—I hope they come forward. This community suffered a great loss and we owe it to Susan and her family to keep her case alive.
