Hey everyone,
I came across a detail about Pfc. Kham See Xiong and felt the need to share it here. It seems he was just about to get his physical done when Major Nidal Hasan began his attack at the Fort Hood readiness center. Apparently, his wife had texted him to come home for lunch, but he decided to stay because it was almost his turn. I think this speaks volumes about the kind of person he was—so committed to his responsibilities, both as a soldier and as a family man.
I can only imagine how difficult it must’ve been for his family, knowing he was so close to being safe at home. It's devastating to think that such a small decision had such a huge impact. My heart goes out to his wife, Shoua Her, and their children. It's important for us to remember the people behind the headlines, those like Kham who showed loyalty and dedication up until the end.
Thoughts with the Xiong family and everyone else affected by that tragic day. Stay safe, everyone.
I've been thinking a lot about the bravery and sacrifices made by soldiers like Pfc. Kham See Xiong. It's so poignant how he made the choice to stay for his examination, showing such dedication to his duty. It's moments like these that really underline the everyday heroism of our military personnel. I wonder if there were more safeguards or communication protocols in place, could things have been different? It's a tough question, and my heart goes out to his family who had to say goodbye under such tragic circumstances. The way the community has rallied around his memory and honored his legacy is truly touching. It's stories like his that should remind us all to appreciate the freedom and safety that we often take for granted, provided by courageous individuals like Kham.
Hi everyone,
I'm deeply moved by the story of Pfc. Kham See Xiong and wanted to bring up something that's been on my mind concerning military spouses, like his wife Shoua Her. It must be incredibly difficult to receive a message with such urgent importance as the one she sent, asking him to come home for lunch. I can't imagine how heartbreaking it must be for her knowing that her instinct was to keep him away from harm. It makes me think about the silent roles and sacrifices that military families endure, often without any recognition.
These individuals hold everything together on the home front while their loved ones serve, dealing with anxiety and the weight of uncertainty every single day. And even after unimaginable loss, like what Shoua and her children experienced, they often find the strength to continue supporting the community and each other. It's a testament to their resilience and love.
In discussions about security and mental health reform in the military, let’s also remember to support the families who shoulder so much and are affected by these events. They’re part of the heroism too. Sending my thoughts to Shoua, her children, and all military families who have faced similar trials.
Take care,
