Scrolling through posts about Abraham "Lil Abe" Cleaver, I was struck by a specific detail I hadn’t seen discussed much before: his role on the Estacado High School football team. As a fullback and defensive end, Abe wasn't just a player; he was a force on the field. Those who watched him play often recall how his energy and commitment were contagious, pushing his team to give everything they had in every game. It’s such a tragedy to think of how this promising athlete and father was taken so soon. I wonder if any of his teammates or coaches have shared their memories or insights into who Abe was off the field. It could be a small way to honor his memory and the positive impact he had on those around him. If anyone has more stories about his time with the team, I would love to hear them.
