I stumbled upon a detail in the case of Donalvon Odell Rhyne's murder that had me thinking. It's about the role that surveillance footage played. I can't imagine the agony the family must have felt seeing it mentioned in reports. While we're eternally grateful for tech that aids justice, it's got to be a double-edged sword for the loved ones who are forced to relive those moments. It's interesting how this footage captured a five-to-seven-minute argument — that’s a significant amount of time for such a tragic event. I keep wondering if anyone in that vicinity noticed something odd or unusual during those minutes and thought about intervening. It’s terribly sad that even with that span of time, things escalated to where they did. Kudos to the law enforcement team for their vigilance and to the community for stepping up when the reward increased. Even in tragedy, the collective effort to seek justice can be a silver lining. Rest in peace, Mr. Rhyne, and all my thoughts are with those who cared for him. ?
