Does anyone know if they've checked with local homeless shelters or soup kitchens in the area from that time? It's possible he sought assistance there, especially considering his health and vulnerable state. Often, shelter workers or regulars might remember someone matching his description. It seems like a lead worth revisiting, especially if he was interacting with people in those communities. Also, were any of the personal belongings found in the car when it was impounded? Sometimes even small details can give a clue about his plans or state of mind.
