I’ve been reflecting on the bravery it takes to be part of a SWAT team, especially when thinking about Detective Charles Dinwiddie’s tragic death. The risks these officers face every day are unimaginable for many of us. I can’t stop thinking about how Dinwiddie must have approached every operation with a deep sense of duty and professionalism, always ready to protect and serve. The sheer unpredictability of situations like the one he faced is a stark reminder of the courage law enforcement officers must summon with each call they respond to. As we keep the Dinwiddie family in our thoughts, we should also recognize the tremendous sacrifice law enforcement families make, often living with the anxiety of whether their loved one will come back home. It’s important to honor the memory of those, like Dinwiddie, who dedicate their lives to keeping communities safe. Does anyone else here have insights or thoughts on ways we can support officers and their families during such incredibly trying times?
