I've been following the Walton case since it happened, and something that's been sticking with me is the role of mental illness in this tragedy. In reading about similar cases, it's clear that there needs to be more focus on mental health interventions—especially in young adults. Could early treatment or community support have made a difference for Ryan and his family? We might never have the answer, but I hope that more awareness comes from this. For anyone still mourning Michael and Lynda, my heart is with you. They were clearly cherished members of their community, and it’s devastating to see such lives cut short.
