I was reflecting on the impact that crimes like the one involving Kathy DeLeon, Cynthia Serrano, and April Serrano have on the surrounding community. It's overwhelming how fear and insecurity settle in when such violence occurs in a neighborhood that felt familiar and safe. The fact that this all stemmed from a robbery motive is terrifying—just knowing that someone could feel entitled to take not only belongings but lives. For those who knew these women, the psychological toll must be immense. Going forward, I hope the community will come together to support each other and to be vigilant, creating a strong environment that prioritizes safety and watches out for signs of domestic violence. Kathy, Cynthia, and April should be remembered not for the way they died, but for the lives they lived and the memories they left behind.
