Hello all,
I wanted to bring up something that's been on my mind regarding Yazmin and Omar's case. It’s been really difficult hearing about the events that led up to this tragic night, but something keeps standing out to me: the role of community support in trying to heal after such a violent event. I know a lot of us are left with countless questions about why this happened and what could have been done differently. It's crucial, though, for the community to come together during times like these.
After the incident, many local residents gathered at Dos Salsas to hold a vigil for Yazmin and Omar, showing just how much these two meant to everyone around them. The restaurant staff, customers, and even people who didn’t personally know Yazmin or Omar showed up to pay their respects and support the families by setting up a fund to help cover expenses. It’s moments like these that bring a glimmer of hope amid darkness.
For anyone local, the annual charity dinner organized by the restaurant is coming up next month, and proceeds are going towards anti-violence programs in the area—such a positive way to channel the loss into prevention and awareness. It’s inspiring to see how people are working to create lasting change from such a tragic loss.
Keep sending love to the families and all who were impacted. ?
Stay safe, everyone.
It's been almost a decade since that unsettling Thanksgiving in Weir, and I still can't wrap my head around how something so devastating could happen during what should be a time of gratitude and togetherness. I remember reading that Jose Benitez might have had some fixation on Yazmin Corona, which makes me wonder if there were any warning signs that others around them could have noticed. It's terrifying to think that what might have seemed like a simple gathering turned deadly so fast.
I'm curious if anyone in the community noticed any changes in Benitez's behavior before the incident or if he ever spoke to anyone about his feelings towards Yazmin. Were there any red flags, or did it all come out of nowhere for those who knew them? It's a tough spot for her friends and colleagues, knowing they worked alongside him. If anyone here has insights or knew those involved, it would really help to understand what was going on beneath the surface. My heart goes out to Yazmin and Omar's loved ones; losing them that way must have been incredibly difficult.
