I've been thinking a lot about little things that sometimes get overlooked in these cases, and one thing that's been on my mind is the couple's 3-month-old son. I mean, it's just unimaginable what this child sadly has to grow up with now—losing his mom in such a horrific way and living with the knowledge of what his father did. My heart just goes out to him and the extended family. I think we often focus on the immediate tragic events, but there’s a life that was just beginning, and now it’s forever altered. I hope he's surrounded by love and gets the support he needs as he grows up. This aspect of crime stories often tugs at my emotions the most. It makes you realize how deep the repercussions of violence are and how important community support can be for those left behind.
