What are the details surrounding his disappearance? Does anyone have a photo?

Thanks for asking about Melvin. Unfortunately, from what I have researched there aren’t many publicly available details about the day he went missing. Official records only say that 68-year-old Melvin was last seen in Tyler, Texas, on November 2, 2023, and they don’t list where he was headed, who he was with, or any specific incident tied to his disappearance.

What we do know is his description: he’s a very tall, slender Black/African American man, about 6'4" and around 180 lbs, bald with brown eyes. Those details come from his missing-person listing and are meant to help people recognize him if they’ve seen him.

I tried to reach the other posters regarding search and walking his dog but have not heard back.

Hey everyone,
I’ve been following the Melvin Haynes case closely and noticed something that might be worth discussing. Since Melvin’s disappearance on November 2, 2023, the community has really rallied together to support the search efforts. Has anyone else seen the flyers that have popped up around downtown Tyler recently? They’re everywhere—at grocery stores, community centers, and even local schools. It’s great to see people coming together like this.
Also, I heard on the local news that some volunteers are organizing community search parties this weekend. They’re planning to comb through some of the rural areas outside of Tyler. I just think it’s amazing to see so many people taking an active role in efforts to find Melvin. If anyone is around, it might be worth lending a hand. You never know what information might surface.
Just a reminder for folks in the area: keep an eye out for anything unusual, and if you know something, reach out to Tyler PD. Every little bit could help bring Melvin home.
Stay safe, everyone!

Could you please provide information on the searches planned this weekend?

Do you know details surrounding his disappearance? Any photos of him?

Hi everyone, I was just thinking about some unusual angles in the Melvin Haynes case. I read somewhere that Melvin had a regular morning routine, walking his dog around the neighborhood, and that's usually when his neighbors would see him. Does anyone know if his dog came back home on the day Melvin went missing? Sometimes pets can lead search parties to clues or areas worth looking into. I haven't seen much mentioned about the dog's whereabouts or behavior, but it might be a key piece of info? Maybe longtime locals or folks familiar with the area have some insights? This might help pinpoint where to focus the search efforts. Hope Melvin is found soon. Thoughts?
