I recently came across the case of Katie Eager, and it has been weighing heavily on my mind. One thing that I keep thinking about is the role community vigilance plays in preventing tragedies like this one. It’s so hard to know when to step in or call for help, especially when we're dealing with private matters behind closed doors. Katie was clearly loved by her friends and co-workers, and it’s gut-wrenching to think that maybe an intervention could have made a difference. Her colleagues described her as determined and kind-hearted, which just makes this all the more difficult to comprehend. It really hits home how important it is for us to look out for one another, even when it feels awkward or intrusive. I applaud the Alamo Drafthouse for the tribute and their efforts to keep Katie’s spirit alive through the scholarship fund. It's incredible to see how communities come together to support one another after such a loss. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved her.
