I've been thinking a lot about the Chamness case, and one detail that keeps puzzling me is how nobody at the hospital heard any gunshots. I mean, it's a hospital; there are people around 24/7. I wonder if it's possible that something muffled the sound, or if maybe the hospital rooms have some kind of soundproofing? It just seems hard to believe that two shots could go unnoticed.
I feel for their daughter deeply, having to discover her parents like that—it must be a trauma unlike any other. Whatever the circumstances, it's such a sad way for a love story to end after 64 years together. They were admired by those who knew them, and this must be a devastating loss for the community as well. If anyone else has insight or thoughts about why the shots might not have been heard, I'd love to hear them.
Just been reading about the Chamness case and found it so deeply unsettling. The fact that hospital staff didn’t hear any gunshots is puzzling to me. I’ve been thinking about how that could even happen in a hospital setting. It must have been such a surreal and devastating discovery for their daughter to walk in and find them like that. The couple was married for 64 years, which is truly incredible. I can't imagine the weight of such a difficult decision for Benjamin, though we may never understand what he was feeling in those final moments. Sending thoughts to their family as they navigate this incredibly difficult time. If anyone has more insight into cases like this where the staff didn’t hear anything, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
I've been following the Chamness case from San Marcos, and I can't stop thinking about how hospital security teams handle situations like these. It blows my mind that nobody at the Central Texas Medical Center heard anything when the tragedy occurred. Given how busy hospitals usually are, I understand it could be noisy, but the thought of someone bringing a firearm into a hospital room unnoticed is truly concerning. I hope this incident prompts hospitals to reassess their security protocols. My thoughts are with the Chamness family, especially their daughter who had to find her parents in such a tragic state. It's hard to imagine the pain and shock she must be experiencing.
