Did anyone else find it particularly striking that Laura’s ex, James Ray Brossett, managed to break into her home? I mean, it’s horrific enough that he did what he did, but the fact he was able to get into her house to begin with is terrifying. It makes you think about how important home security is, but also, how, in cases of domestic violence or stalking, sometimes even that isn’t enough. Her poor son, too—trying to defend his mom... it must haunt him. My heart goes out to him, as he must be so brave to face such trauma. The community’s outpouring of support for Laura’s family during the trial shows that there is still good in this world, but nothing can ever truly fill the void left by such a senseless act.
