It's so tragic how a senseless act can ripple through so many lives. I came across Reynaldo Reyes Jr.'s case recently and was struck by the dynamic between the families involved. It's devastating to think about how Nancy Lopez was put in such an unimaginable position—caught between her brother and her boyfriend. Her life will forever be marked by that night, just as much as it changed for the Reyes family. I can't help but wonder how Nancy is coping now, years later, and what kind of support both families are receiving. It seems like everybody involved on that night has had their lives irrevocably altered. It’s just so sad to watch communities try to heal from such trauma.
