Has anyone else heard about the missing persons case of Scott Akina from Kilauea? I was reading up on it and something caught my eye about the search efforts. It's pretty baffling how despite covering over 6,200 square miles with helicopters, boats, and patrols, they still couldn’t find any trace of him. I'm no expert, but that seems like a massive area! It really makes you think about how unpredictable and vast the ocean can be. Does anyone know if similar search efforts have been successful in Hawaii in other missing person cases? I feel like there's got to be something about the currents or geography there that makes it particularly difficult. Would love to hear any insights!

Does anyone else find it strange that Scott Akina was under federal investigation just before his disappearance? While his family believes he drowned at Ninini Beach, I've always wondered if the investigation could have played any part in how things unfolded. It's admittedly a stretch, but could there have been an element of foul play involved to prevent him from testifying or providing information? Or was he perhaps under a lot of stress due to the case and went for a swim to clear his head, only for something tragic to happen? It’s just odd to me that no signs of him were ever found, given the massive search effort. Missing persons cases with concurrent investigations (even if unrelated) often leave many questions unanswered.

Has anyone else been following the Scott Akina case from Kauai? I was just thinking about how strange it is that not a single piece of evidence has turned up after all these years. I know they covered thousands of square miles during the search, but it's like the ocean just swallowed him up without a trace. Also, isn't it curious how the disappearance coincided with that federal investigation? I’m not suggesting foul play, but the timing seems odd. Maybe there are more layers to this than we've considered. Would love to hear what others think about the possible connection, or if his disappearance was purely coincidental.
