I’ve been reading through the details of Leslie Bailey’s case, and I just can’t stop thinking about how many times she tried to get away from David and how the system seemed to fail her repeatedly. It’s surreal to me that even after filing restraining orders and moving in with her dad, she still wasn’t safe from him. How can someone so determined to escape not receive the protection she truly needed? What really haunts me is that she was just trying to live a normal life, like going to the mall to buy perfume, and even then, she wasn’t safe. It’s terrifying. I can’t imagine the fear and frustration Leslie must have felt each time David tracked her down. And her poor father, seeing the news and realizing it was his daughter... that must be a pain beyond words. I truly hope that this case leads to better protection measures for others who are in similar situations. Something has to change so this doesn’t keep happening.

It’s really devastating to think about the lengths Leslie went to in trying to find safety from David. I can’t stop thinking about how she had to uproot her life and move back in with her father to feel some degree of security, only to still be hunted down. It just goes to show how the system failed her and how resilience sometimes isn't enough when you're up against someone so determined to harm. My heart goes out to her father, Frankie. The trauma of seeing your daughter's last moments unfold on the news is unimaginable. This case definitely emphasizes how crucial it is for there to be better mechanisms in place to protect those who are trying to escape abusive situations. Every story, like Leslie’s, reminds us of how much more work needs to be done.
