I can't believe it's already been a few years since Officer Moreno's tragic passing. What sticks with me is the bravery and quick response of his partner, Officer Cavazos. In such a terrifying moment, his instincts kicked in to try and save both their lives. It’s a reminder of the intense situations law enforcement officers face without warning. My heart goes out to Officer Cavazos, who not only has to cope with his own healing but also the loss of a partner and friend. How do departments usually support officers and partners who endure something like this? It must be incredibly tough to return to the job after such an ordeal. Hoping the community continues to rally around these officers and shows them the support they deserve.

I came across this case again today and felt compelled to talk about some of the ways people are remembering Officer Moreno. It’s clear he made a significant impact on his community, and it feels important to highlight that. I read about how the local community set up memorials at the intersection of Evergreen and Howard Streets, where the tragedy took place. Flowers, handwritten notes, and candles have been placed there by residents who wanted to pay their respects. It’s a beautiful yet somber scene that speaks volumes about how loved and respected he was. I also heard there are efforts to create a scholarship in his name for local kids who aspire to enter law enforcement or community service. This initiative seems like such a fitting tribute considering how committed Officer Moreno was to San Antonio and his devotion to mentoring youth. It's uplifting to see these acts of remembrance which celebrate his life and ensure his legacy continues to inspire, even amidst such tragedy. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and all those who served with him.
