Just watched an interview with Hunter Foraker's parents, and it really puts into perspective how CTE is not just a professional athlete's issue. Hunter was so young and full of potential, but his life was cut short in such a tragic way. I can't imagine the pain his family goes through every day.
What stood out to me was their push for flag football for kids under 14. It seems like such a simple step, but it could potentially save so many young lives from the same fate. It's incredibly brave of them to use their tragedy to advocate for change and protect others. I really hope youth sports organizations start taking this seriously. CTE awareness might still be in its growing phases, but Hunter's story definitely adds a human face to the statistics we've heard. Just heartbreaking.
I've been following Hunter Foraker's story, and it just guts me to think about the struggle he must have gone through. It's commendable how his family has turned their grief into advocacy. One aspect I find particularly poignant is how CTE isn't just an issue for professional athletes or those with long sports careers. Hunter's experiences highlight how early exposure to contact sports can potentially have long-lasting effects. It hits hard because so many kids start sports at such a young age without fully understanding the risks. My heart goes out to those who knew him, and I truly hope their efforts help make sports safer for future generations. Has anyone here been involved in similar advocacy work, or know of any organizations doing important work in this area? Would love to hear more about anything like that.
