I’ve been thinking a lot about how the system failed Kenlie and Kaylee. It's absolutely devastating to know there were previous warnings about Sarah Henderson’s ability to care for children and yet no intervention that could have possibly prevented this tragedy. Why wasn’t there a more thorough follow-up after the 2010 CPS investigation? It really makes me question the protocols in place for ensuring children’s safety. I know it’s always easier to criticize in hindsight, but these were red flags that shouldn’t have been ignored. My heart goes out to the families and the community trying to make sense of such a profound loss. We need to push for changes so that no other child is left vulnerable in a similar situation. How can the system be improved to prevent tragedies like this?
