I came across the case of Stephen Verdell Jr., and I can't stop thinking about how crucial witness accounts can be in solving crimes like this. It happened in broad daylight, right at the bus stop, and there were quite a few people around. I really hope someone who saw what happened decides to speak up. Even the smallest detail could help the investigation. I can’t even imagine what Stephen's family is going through right now. It's such a painful aftermath when a young life is taken in such a senseless way. If you were in the area or know anyone who was around that spot on January 11, 2018, please encourage them to reach out to HPD. Stephen’s family deserves answers and the person responsible needs to be held accountable. Let’s do what we can to help this grieving family find some semblance of peace.

Has anyone else been thinking about the school bus stop as a vulnerable area for young people? Stephen Verdell Jr.'s tragic shooting near Kilkenny and Cullen Boulevard makes me think about how many students gather there daily. It seems like there need to be more measures in place to ensure the safety of kids at these stops, especially in areas with a lot of foot traffic. It’s so devastating to think a 16-year-old could lose his life in a place that's supposed to be safe. I wonder if others in the community have noticed the same issues and how we might push for some kind of protection or monitoring to prevent similar tragedies. My heart aches for Stephen's family—they deserve to know their child was safe while just trying to go to school. What do you all think about advocating for safer school bus zones?
