Has anyone else considered the mining boom in the Tungsten Hills around the time John Gates disappeared? I've been reading up, and there was a sudden rush for tungsten due to WWI demand. With all the new, often inexperienced miners and the hazardous conditions, maybe Gates got caught up in something accidental during his deliveries. Old mining accidents were a lot more common back then. If he was delivering supplies to a newer, less established mine, something could've gone wrong. I know it's just a theory, but it could explain why there's been no trace of him or his wagon. Anyone else looked into mining incidents from that era in the area?
