I’ve been thinking a lot about the role of schools in supporting kids who might be dealing with tough situations at home. It's really hard to wrap my head around the fact that Maria and Isabella’s teachers and friends might not have seen any signs of what was happening behind closed doors. I'm glad to hear the school and the district are stepping up with their Crisis Intervention Team to help students process this unimaginable tragedy. It's crucial that educators and students alike have the resources and training to spot warning signs and feel empowered to speak up or reach out. My heart goes out to Maria and Isabella’s classmates; it can’t be easy for them to cope with losing friends in such an unexpected and tragic way. How is the Katy community healing from this? Do we know if any long-term programs are being put in place to prevent something like this from happening again?
I keep thinking about the teachers and classmates at Mayde Creek High School who have to deal with this tragedy every day. It's unimaginable to lose two friends in such a devastating way. The school’s Crisis Intervention Team must be doing everything they can, but how do you even begin to support those kids through something like this? I'm glad they're there, but it's going to be a long healing journey for everyone involved. I hope the community comes together to support each other during this hard time. It’s a stark reminder that we really need to pay attention to what's happening in our homes and reach out if something seems off. My heart goes out to every member of this community.
